The young musician and producer from New Jersey talks about his latest album, the future, and being diabetic.
Thanks to the invention of computers and digital audio workstations, making electronic music at home has been much easier than it originally was during the 80s and 90s and you probably won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars buying equipment.
We recently got the chance to speak with young and upcoming producer Jakob Harris also known by his aliases “Bronze God” and “Archangel” who has been uploading music to his SoundCloud account for the past year.
Range Dive: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Jakob Harris: The first thing I do is figure out what I want for breakfast.
You use a lot of genres to describe your music and you’ve been known to do albums where each song is a different genre, if you had to use one subgenre to describe your music what would it be?
To be honest, this upcoming album is stylistically different than my first two, but I would probably say the first two albums are disco and the third is probably experimental rock.
Tell us about your upcoming album.
My upcoming album is my most experimental album to date. Unlike “Vision” and “Tomorrow” which follow the same genre, Inner Thoughts (which is its title) deviates from the standard “rock.” For example, one track is soft rock and acoustic rock, while another one is garage rock and raga rock. There is no one track on the album that is similar stylistically.
Will your upcoming album feature vocals from you?
Yes, it’ll feature vocals from me and a bunch of collaborators.
Will you compose the entirety of the album or use samples and sound packs?
To be honest, it’s going to be a mix of both but I’m trying to use more real instruments than using all loops.
Who are your biggest influences?
My main influences are The Beatles, Blink-182, Green Day, Pink Floyd, and Tame Impala.
Can you talk about being diabetic? How did you find out you had diabetes?
I was diagnosed with it on January 8, 2020.
Do you have any words of encouragement for others who have been diagnosed?
I will say the first year is the hardest year because you have to adjust to the new changes.
“Inner Thoughts” will be released in either October or November of 2021, you can follow Jakob on his SoundCloud account.
